The game is divided into multiple chapters, known as “acts”, each centering around one of the demons Shadow must confront:
Act I: Hero Reborn – Lynx, leader of The Order, an assassin group.
Act II: Secret Path – Hermit, a powerful wizard and warrior who runs his own school.
Act III: Trail of Blood – Butcher, the head of a juvenile gang.
Act IV: Pirate Throne – Wasp, self-proclaimed “Pirate Queen” and leader of a pirate crew.
Act V: The Greatest Temptation – Widow, a seductive woman who can lure almost any man with her charms.
Act VI: Iron Reign – Shogun, a dishonored rōnin who has become a warlord.
